I was proud to be on hand as my former colleague Scott Wilson was awarded the Shircliff Courage in the Community Award for standing up to forces in the city that would have sold the Jacksonville Electric Authority to private investors. .We also recognized new board members as well as recognizing the Masters of Public Policy Minority Fellowship Program established through the vision and the generosity of Chuck and Cami Wodehouse.
I stood with my colleagues as we opened the Shared Use Path over the Fuller Warren Bridge. It certainly adds one more opportunity for residents to get out and get moving in downtown Jacksonville providing for nearly a mile to connect runners, bikers, and walkers from Riverside to San Marco. This is the third point of access for pedestrians to cross the St. Johns River in downtown.
Fun was on the menu when I spent a wonderful time with senior citizens as part of the Mayor’s Fish-athon. Hundreds of Duval County seniors enjoyed an incredible day together telling lots of fish tales and hooking the biggest and even the smallest catch.
The Mandarin Arts Festival featured talented artists in all mediums. Not only was the art fantastic, the food was superb! A huge shoutout to all the dedicated volunteers.
And so much fun for families and children at the Easter Extravaganza held down A. Philip Randolph. Thanks to all the vendors and participants who turned out to make sure children and their families had a marvelous time.
The Jacksonville 2023 Unitary Election is in full swing, Donna Deegan, Democratic Candidate for Mayor, Joyce Morgan, Duval County Property Appraiser Candidate, and Michael Finn, Write-In Candidate for Jacksonville City Council District 13 spoke about their vision for Jacksonville and the relationship between Jacksonville and the beach communities.
MLK parade celebrating the life and legacy of America's Drum Major for Justice. Hundreds participated and hundreds more lined the streets of Jacksonville to watch.
Thanks to my amazing family and volunteers for helping in the effort.
